Abstract
Since not all ESOL qualifications are equal, we must choose carefully from the wide selection available. A relatively new examination on the ESOL market is the NOCN examination, offering levels B1, B2,C1, C2, from Intermediate to Proficient, testing speaking, reading, writing and listening.
Most state primary school teachers of English will work with pupils at risk of dyslexia, or with diagnosed developmental dyslexia, at some point in their career. It is important to remember that the intelligence of such children is always normal or above average. The symptoms related to this disorder do not result only from deficits in sense organs, environmental negligence or a neurological disease. The difficulties of dyslexic pupils are not only related to reading and writing.

Bullying is always a central issue in discussions about school, safety and emotional health. Healthier schools and environments can be distinguished from the ones where bullying becomes a real issue in the way they handle bullying. And although we cannot eliminate the phenomenon, one thing is clear: the more we discuss bullying the more it becomes visible making it easier to eradicate and to deal with the harm it causes to everyone involved. But the first question we need to ask ourselves is what is bullying.

Your concern is well-founded. Vocabulary items need to be selected, contextualized during presentation, practiced repeatedly and recycled whenever possible.
SELECTION: Your teachers need to have selection criteria for those vocabulary items they set for their students to learn. To name some, we consider ‘high frequency’ (How often is the word used?), ‘receptive or active vocabulary’ (Are vocabulary items to be comprehended only or both comprehended and used?), and ‘appropriateness’ for learners’ age and level.
